- Erling Haaland could be playing at the Old Trafford next season
- Reports say United are ready to pay his release clause of £63million to sign him
- Real Madrid are also interested in signing the teenager
Manchester United are said to be willing to pay the £63m release clause for Dortmund’s Erling Haaland in a bid to secure the player ahead of Real Madrid, SunSport reports.
The Red Devils are ready to go head-to-head with Los Blancos who are also interested in the 19-year-old goal poacher.
Haaland has been outstanding since joining Borussia Dortmund in January painting the Bundesliga with goals. He has so far netted nine goals in his eight appearances for BVB in the league.
The German club are doing everything to keep the player at the club for at least another season.
However, reports have it that Dortmund have greed a £63m release clause for the Norwegian - who has bagged 12 goals in his first 11 Borussia games in all competitions.
Reports from Spain suggest Real Madrid will be willing to sign the player when the summer transfer opens, but United could be making a faster approach as soon as the player decides to leave the German club.
According to ESPN, United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has been on the trail of the player before he moved to join Dortmund for £18.5million.
The Man Utd boss even traveled to Salzburg on December 13 to meet with the player in a desperate bid to tie up the deal.
According to Haaland’s father, former Leeds ace Alf-Inge Haaland, only the Manchester United manager has shown interest in his son.
Meanwhile, Spanish giants Real are in desperate bid to see-off at least twelve first team players when the transfer window opens this summer as Gareth Bale and Luka Modric could be affected.
La Liga clubs are only allowed to have a maximum of 25 players, but a total of 37 players currently make up first team of Los Blancos with twelve of them out on loan.
Team manager Zinedine Zidane now has no choice but to get rid of at least twelve of them when the transfer window is open as reports also say James Rodriguez could be affected.
Bale, Modric and James are players who earn high wages at the club and they are yet to impress Zidane since he returned to manage the club.
Should they leave, Zinedine Zidane will have enough funds to prosecute the signing of Haaland.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United chiefs have reportedly thought that Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo would have worth £70m if the former Watford man is five years younger.
Odion Ighalo has been superb for Manchester United since he joined the Red Devils from Chinese Super League side club Shanghai Shenhua and has netted four goals for the Red Devils.
Eyebrow were first raised when Manchester United signed Odion Ighalo in the January transfer window as some believe that he would not be able to shine.
