Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has solicited the assistance of Yoruba deities to help cleanse the country from the coronavirus (Covid-19) global pandemic.
The first-class traditional monarch made the spiritual plea to the gods amid mounting scare of coronavirus in the country.
In a statement signed by the ruler's press secretary, Chief Olayemi Awoyede, residents of the Ife communities are enjoined to keep safe indoor as traditional rites will be performed to wipe away the pandemic, The Nation reports.
Legit.ng notes that coronavirus took a hard hit on the country as the confirmed cases officially rose to 174, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
More cases are expected to be recorded in the coming days, though the federal government in a collaborative effort with the states and health agencies have set the wheel on move to curb the disease.
Oba Adeyeye, in his own contribution as a royal father, has called on the people of Ife to keep off the street on Thursday as masquerades will be performing special appeasements to the deities to help cleanse the land of the pandemic.
Restriction of movement is believed to commence by 8am and ends at 6pm.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Ooni of Ife caused quite a stir on social media on Monday, March 30, when the first class monarch gave a list of herbs that would help boost the immune system and battle coronavirus.
