- Los Blancos are in desperate move to cut down their first team squad

- La Liga clubs are allowed to have 25 first team players, but Real have 37

Spanish giants Real are in desperate bid to see-off at least twelve first team players when the transfer window opens this summer as Gareth Bale and Luka Modric could be affected, SunSport reports.

La Liga clubs are only allowed to have a maximum of 25 players, but a total of 37 players currently make up first team of Los Blancos with twelve of them out on loan.

Team manager Zinedine Zidane now has no choice but to get rid of at least twelve of them when the transfer window is open as reports also say James Rodriguez could be affected.

Bale, Modric and James are players who earn high wages at the club and they are yet to impress Zidane since he returned to manage the club.

Bale was on the verge of sealing a deal with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning last summer, but Real Madrid stalled the deal at the last minute.

The trio are on high wages and neither player has managed to win over boss Zidane in either of his two spells in charge.

Los Blancos are desperate in getting the Welsh man off the wage bill as he earns a whopping £13.4million-a-year salary. But the club are in search of a willing team that could match such amount of money.

Both Bale and Aaron Ramsey have been linked with a move to Everton in order for them to reunite with former team manager Carlo Ancelotti who is now in charge at the Premier League club.

The La Liga giants seem to have totally given up on their chase for Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba.

Although, Juventus are intensifying their efforts to see the Frenchman return to the Allianz Stadium with Aaron Ramsey tipped to go the other way.

Since Pogba appears to have been taken off the picture, Zinedine Zidane is hoping he can bring the 21-year-old star to the Bernabeu when the next transfer window opens.
