Coronavirus is real, please stay at home - Lagos COVID-19 patients (video)

- Some coronavirus patients in Lagos have released a video of themselves at the isolation centre as they sent important messages to Nigerians

- The patients advised Nigerians to stay safe at home, warning that COVID-19 is real, among other messages

- The coronavirus patients also thanked health workers for nursing them back to health in the new video

Some COVID-19 patients in the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) Yaba have produced a video to improve awareness about the virus.

The infected patients also thanked health workers for nursing them back to health in the new video widely circulating on social media.

The video was shared on Twitter by Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state on Wednesday, April 1.

The video featured some 12 patients in a file bearing written messages which they flashed before the camera as the danced away.

The patients wore face masks and covers that largely obscured their identities in one of the wards of the hospital.

Some of the messages they bore reads: “Health workers also have families but they can’t stay at home; please stay safe; stay alive. #Lagoscividgang2020.”; “It is real; we are living through this but we are confident we will overcome together; kudos to Lagos and its amazing team”; “Hey people, we are foreigners here and we are begging you to stay home for your relatives’ sake;” “many thanks to the health workers; they have been a blessing.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria has recorded another 23 new cases of the dreaded coronavirus.

This was disclosed by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet on Wednesday, April 1. The tweet read: "twenty-three new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Lagos, 7 in the FCT, 5 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Bauchi state.

In another related report, Nigerian music star, Davido, recently became a cause for concern for several of his fans on social media after some people he got in close contact with people who tested positive for the novel and deadly coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic is a disease that is raging all over the world as even developed countries are struggling to contain it and also reduce the death rates as much as possible.

This is particularly difficult because there is no vaccine for the disease yet. People have been advised to stay at home and to also practise social distancing.

Davido was advised to take another test to ascertain if he has the coronavirus after his first test came out negative despite him being in contact with people who have tested positive.

The Risky crooner has now taken to social media via his Twitter page to reveal that the result for his second test is out and that he is still not infected with the virus.

In Davido’s tweet, he wrote: “I did a second test for the covid19 virus again .... Once again I’m Negative ....”
