Jay Z and Rihanna have donated a million dollars each to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The $1 million donations were made through their charity foundations.
Rihanna has already donated an even larger amount to the cause.
Last week, the beauty pledged $5 million to provide medical supplies to impoverished communities across the US, Caribbean, and Africa through her Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF).
Now, she has made an additional $1 million donation to support non-profits in New York and Los Angeles, with Jay Z matching the amount through his Shawn Carter Foundation.
People Magazine reports that the emergency funds will be shared between community upliftment organisations such as the Mayor’s Fund for L.A., Fund for Public Schools, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the New York Immigration Coalition.
The funds are intended to support those disadvantaged the most by the coronavirus pandemic.
Shawn Carter is Jay Z's real name and the CEO and co-founder of the Shawn Carter Foundation is Gloria Carter, who's also Jay Z's mother.
In a media statement about the donation, Gloria said, “In times of crisis, it is imperative that we come together as one community to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to critical needs: shelter, health, nutrition, and education. The only way to get through this pandemic is with love and action.”
In other news, Legit.ng reported that sensational singer, Rihanna, has revealed plans to expand her family in the next 10 years. The songstress disclosed that she is aiming to have four children and raise them on her own even if she will not have found her prince charming to marry.
In an interview with Vogue Magazine, the Umbrella hitmaker shared her personal aspirations saying she wishes to be a mother to three or four kids at most.
The singer described love as the most fundamental thing that matters most between a parent and their children.
