Coronavirus: Joy as Oyo state discharges index case

The war against coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit a massive breakthrough as Oyo government confirmed the discharge of the index case in the state.
Taiwo Adisa, the chief press secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, made this known in a statement on Monday, March 30, The Nation reports.
According to Adisa, the index case was discharged after the completion of his treatment at the Agbami Chest Hospital Isolation Centre in Ibadan.
He stressed that the patient, an American returnee, tested negative to two consecutive coronavirus tests.
Legit.ng understands the pleasant report comes barely 24 hours after the governor of the state announced on social media that he has tested positive to COVID-19.
"The index case had been on self-isolation at a private residence in Ibadan until he was transferred to the Isolation Centre on March 23.
“The index case was released after two consecutive negative tests,” according to the chief press secretary.
Meanwhile, as more cases of coronavirus are recorded, the federal government has commenced the distribution of preventive items to people living with disabilities.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development made the donation and distribution at the Karmajiji disabled community in Abuja.
The ministry said the distribution was part of President Muhammadu Buhari's efforts towards ensuring the safety of lives amid the coronavirus global pandemic.
Items distributed to the disabled people include hand sanitizers, face masks, soaps, bleach and plastic buckets.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that after weeks of tests and medical care, five patients initially diagnosed with coronavirus in Lagos state were on Monday, March 30, discharged.
This brings the number of discharged patients all over the country to 8. The discharged patients who were quarantined at an isolation centre in the state for weeks regained their health and are now in stable condition.
Among those discharged is a lady with the name Oluwaseun Ayodeji Osowobi. She has shared her isolation experience after she recovered from coronavirus.
She said that she started noticing symptoms of the virus after she returned from the UK post-commonwealth event. Oluwaseun had to quickly self-isolate, and some days after then tested positive to the deadly COVID-19. The development threw off all her arrival plans.
