The police in Ogun state have arrested a masquerade for flouting instructions on public gatherings.

People across the world have been advised on social distancing to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Public gatherings have also been banned so as to avoid a further spread of the deadly infection.

However, a masquerade went ahead to disobey the public gathering rule in Ogun state on Sunday, March 29, 2020, Daily Trust reports.

It was reported that the masquerade was arrested after it reportedly challenged the policemen and threatened to deal with them if they are bent on scattering his followers.

The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that the masquerade was arrested in Abeokuta after a complaint from members of the public was laid against him.

Oyeyemi said that the gathering was to celebrate the masquerade festival in the area. According to the policeman, the gathering created fear of a huge spread of coronavirus in the mind of people in the area.

He stated that the masquerade was then arrested and taken to the station where he was warned to be law-abiding before he was released to a reliable surety.

A video making rounds on social media showed the moment a wedding introduction was stopped in Lagos state. In the recent wedding video, it was gathered that an introduction ceremony was stopped at Egan Isuti Road in Igando area of Lagos. The police told the guests to go to their various houses.

According to the report, the police had told them to stop the wedding introduction due to coronavirus. In the video taken by a social media user, people could be seen gathering in front of the residence where the wedding was being held with cars parked outside.
