- The result of a coronavirus test done on former Emir Muhammadu Sanusi and his wives is finally out
- Recall that Sanusi and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state have had a series of contacts in the last few days
- The results, however, came negative and the emir is urging Nigerians to support government to end the pandemic
It must have been a sigh of relief for the families of the former emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, as a coronavirus test on him and his wife reportedly came back negative.
PM NEWS reports that the confirmation of their health statuses in relation to the COVID-19 was contained in a statement signed by his son, Adam Sanusi, on Sunday, March 29.
The report quoted Sanusi, in the statement, as urging Nigerians to ensure they comply with the instructions from the government concerning the virus.
He further said that being infected with the virus is not a death sentence.
“We have been inundated with calls asking about the health and safety of my father (Sanusi) especially given the number of visitors he received on arrival in Lagos, and a number of contacts he had who have either tested positive for COVID-19 or were in contact with persons who tested positive.
“As for my father, on March 25, he and all our mothers submitted samples for the COVID-19 test.
"These samples were taken at home under the supervision of Dr Alero Roberts, the second vice-chairman of the Association of Public Health Professionals.
“On March 27, Dr Roberts conveyed the results and all of them were negative. We hope this information will allay the concerns of all those who are asking," the statement read.
Legit.ng earlier reported that twenty-hours after Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna tested positive to coronavirus, the result of the test carried out on his colleague in Niger state, Abubakar Bello, came out.
Governor Bello's result came out on Sunday, March 29, negative to the virus that has hit the state and affected some top government officials. A statement by Governor Bello's spokesperson, Mary Noel Berje, confirmed that he was free of the virus.
Meanwhile, one of African world-known billionaires, Aliko Dangote, has tested negative to coronavirus. He said that he took the decision to test because he is a global citizen.
The billionaire also said that the outbreak has greatly affected the modern world and disrupted everyone's health and well-being.
