COVID-19: President Buhari receives briefing from health minister and NCDC boss

- The meeting was an opportunity for the officials to brief the president on the situation of coronavirus in the country

President Muhammadu Buhari met with the minister of health, Osagie Ehanire, and director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Chikwe Ihekweazu, at his residence in the State House, Abuja.

This was revealed in a series of tweets by the personal assistant to President Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad on Saturday, March 28.

The meeting was used by Ehanire and Ihekweazu to give Buhari a report on the COVID-19 situation in the country amid the introduction of new measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

Legit.ng gathers that the briefing is coming a few days after President Buhari resumed work at his office before it was fumigated by the presidency.

The president on Wednesday, March 25, resumed work without receiving any visitor amidst the coronavirus scare in Aso Rock Villa.

According to a source within the presidency who spoke to Daily Trust, Buhari as at 2:30 pm was still working in his office, however, he did not receive any government official for the usual briefing.

Legit.ng previously reported that the presidency has begun intensive fumigation of the State House starting with the office of President Muhammadu Buhari. This is coming after the president's chief of staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive to the deadly virus.

According to The Sun, fumigation experts arrived at the Villa about 9.30 am on Thursday, March 26, to commence the exercise, which would cover the entire Presidential Villa including, floors, corridors, and major pathways.

Similarly, Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity said that Aso Rock is on partial lockdown.

The presidential spokesman on Wednesday, March 25 said things are on a low key in Nigeria at present and the same thing affected the Presidential Villa.

Going further, he rejoiced with President Muhammadu Buhari over the outcome of his COVID-19 test which turns out negative.
