Former Nigerian international Taiye Taiwo who currently plays for RoPS Rovaniemi of Finland announced the passing away of his father Pa Salisu saying “rest in peace my father”.

The former Marseille of France player took to his Instagram handle to reveal the sad situation and also added teary emojis to express his sadness.

According to Brila, the late Salisu who lived around Isheri-Olofin area of Lagos spent most of his life working as a welder in the neighbourhood, before his son came to limelight as a footballer.

He is survived by Taiye Taiwo and four other siblings.

Taiwo who is now 34 years old has 53 appearances for the Nigerian senior national team where he scored five goals.

He moved to join Marseille after playing youth football with Gabros and Lobi stars. He has played in top clubs including Ligue 1 team Marseille and Italian giants AC Milan.

He has scored 38 career club goals in his 473 appearances.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has picked former Super Eagles winger Finidi George as the best Nigerian player he has ever seen, snubbing Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper revealed this via is verified Twitter handle where he also ignored Diego Maradona to pick Lionel Messi as the best Argentine player he has ever seen.

He featured for Nigeria at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments including winning it in 1994 and was also part of the Nigerian team at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups.

He featured for top European clubs including Ajax, Betis, Mallorca, Ipswich Town and Mallorca scoring 77 career club goals in the process.

He won the UEFA Champions League in 1995 with Ajax. He also went on to win the Dutch league, UEFA Super Cup and the now defunct Intercontinental Cup.
