Coronavirus: Those who wish me COVID-19 will have HIV - Yahaya Bello

- Governor Bello has reacted to the speculations that he has tested positive for the coronavirus

- The Kogi state governor in a short video clip said he is hale and hearty, saying anyone wishing that he contact the disease would be infected with HIV/Aids

- Meanwhile, the governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani Bello, has taken the coronavirus test and gone on self-isolation

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has reacted to the speculations that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The speculations were fuelled on social media with a viral photo showing Governor Bello exchanging a handshake with Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari's chief of staff who has tested positive for the virus.

There have been several claims that the Kogi state governor met with Kyari after the latter returned from Germany, a high-risk country for Covid-19.

However, in a video shared by The Cable, Governor Bello said those wishing that he contact the disease would be infected with HIV/Aids.

In the short clip that has since gone viral on social media, the Kogi state governor said he is hale and hearty and challenged anybody doubting him to the boxing ring, assuring that he would emerge victoriously.

"I gat no COVID. Those who wish me to have COVID will have HIV. I am good, hale and hearty. I challenge everybody to the boxing ring," he said.

Meanwhile, in a similar development, the governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani Bello, has reportedly gone on self-isolation after possible exposure to some of Nigeria's confirmed coronavirus cases.

Governor Bello took the decision to self-isolate following his presence at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum meeting which was held on Wednesday, March 18.

Legit.ng notes that the meeting was attended by a lot of governors, including Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, who has tested positive for Covid-19.

Mary Noel Berje, Governor Bello's media aide, said the Niger state governor has been tested and is now awaiting his status as he self-isolates.

In another report, Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria's former vice president, has urged the federal government to provide palliative packages for Nigerians over the coronavirus outbreak.

The former vice president urged the federal government to pay N10,000 to all Nigerians to enable them to survive the lockdown.

Atiku who asked the government to find ways to reach Nigerians with the money pledged N50 million for the welfare package.

He disclosed this in a statement he posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, March 25.
