Coronavirus: Subject yourself to test - Kogi PDP tells Yahaya Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello has been advised to undergo the coronavirus test following reports that he had contact with Abba kyari, the chief of staff to President Mohammadu Buhari, who recently tested positive for the virus.

The advice was given by the Kogi tate chapter of the PDP following the disclosure that Abba Kyari was one of the top government officials that attended the three days prayer for the late mother of Governor Bello, Hajia Hawau in Okene, The Nation.

The PDP in a statement signed by its director research and documentation, Achadu Dickson, on Wednesday, March 25, said it was necessary for stakeholders to take the fight against the virus seriously.

The party warned the APC-led government in the state to desist from playing politics with the health of the people.

It urged the Kogi state government to imitate states like Borno and Lagos who have shown preparation to fighting the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has called for calm following confirmation of the first coronavirus (Covid-19) case in Osun state by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Addressing the people of the state following the NCDC confirmation, Oyetola said the case is of a returnee from the UK and is currently receiving treatment.

The governor said his government has set wheels on move by contacting the family of the patient and have also immediately commenced contact tracing to identify people who might have come in contact with the confirmed case.

In another report, the Rivers state government in a move to check the spread of coronavirus within the state announced that all routes leading into the state such as air, sea, and land will be closed to traffic, beginning 6 pm, on Thursday, March 26.

According to Channels TV, this was revealed on Wednesday, March 25, by the state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in a broadcast.

He said that preventive measures had become necessary in light of recent developments in the country.

Also as the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus continues to increase in the country, panic buying is slowly increasing across Nigeria. However, there have been reported cases of increment in the prices of hand sanitizers and face masks.

It turns out the hike in prices have also extended to food items as many people are stocking up ahead of an impending nationwide lockdown.
