Popular Nigerian singer Simisola Ogunleye has taken to social media to share her thoughts on what to do to get Nigerians to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously. She stated that everything should be shut down.

The singer shared a post on the popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter, talking about the pandemic. Simi noted that fear strategy needs to be employed to get Nigerians to take the virus seriously.

According to the singer, the only thing Nigerians respect more than religion is fear. She said fear is the only thing that would get people to shut everything down.

The singer stated that the shut down should happen now not later. Nigerians reacted to Simi's statement with their own thoughts.

They all shared mixed reactions to her statement on the platform. Some people agreed with her while others stated that Nigerians do not have the means to shut everything down.

The 39-year-old is a singer-songwriter turned actress. She started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2008, titled Ogaju. She gained fame in 2014 after releasing Tiff, a song that was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015.

The post gathered several reactions from Nigerians. While many were of the opinion that coronavirus did not come from animals but was cultured in a lab, there were some who advised her to keep shut.
