Coronavirus: PDP orders partial shutdown at secretariats

- PDP has ordered a partial shutdown of its national secretariat in Abuja amid growing coronavirus scare

- The opposition party also mandated its chapters across states to do the same

- The party enjoined its members and all Nigerians to comply with the directives of the government

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ordered a partial shutdown and 'skeletal activities' at its national secretariat from Wednesday, March 25, amid coronavirus scare.

The opposition party announced the development through a statement by its national spokesperson, Kola Ologbodiyan, on Monday, March 23.

PDP said the move is part of the pre-emptive health safety measures geared towards preventing the spread of coronavirus.

The party also directed all its secretariats and offices across the country to comply with this directive accordingly.

"The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed a partial shutdown and skeletal activities at the national secretariat, Abuja from Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

"The NWC also directs all PDP secretariats and offices across the country to comply with this directive accordingly," part of the statement read.

The opposition party also enjoined its members and all Nigerians to comply with the directives of the government to ensure that the global pandemic is brought under control.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi state, has reportedly gone on self-isolation after it was established that he had contact with the son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

It would be recalled that Atiku's son, whose name was not mentioned, tested positive for coronavirus after returning to the country amid Covid-19 scare.

Disclosing the development in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday night, March 22, Atiku said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been duly informed about the situation.
