- The immediate past head of civil service of the federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, has been arrested by the EFCC

In its efforts to rid Nigeria of corruption and corrupt practices, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will arraign Winnifred Oyo-Ita, the recent past head of the civil service of the federation.
In a series of tweets shared on the anti-graft agency's official Twitter page, Oyo-Ita will be arraigned on Monday, March 23, before Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Eighter others who will be arraigned alongside Oyo-Ita are Frontline Ace Global Services Limited, Asanaya Projects Limited, Garba Umar and his companies: Slopes International Limited, Gooddeal Investments Limited, Ubong Okon Effiok, and his own company, U & U Global Services Limited, and Prince Mega Logistics Limited.
According to the report, the others will be indicted for fraud in relation to the following; duty tour allowances, estacodes, receiving kickbacks on contracts, and conference fees fraud.
The agency during its investigation discovered that Oyo-Ita as a director, permanent secretary and head of civil service used her companies and that of Effiok and Umar as fronts to receive kickbacks from contractors of various ministries and parastatals.
She also made bogus claims of fictitious DTA, Estacodes, conference fees which were paid by the government to the accounts of the suspects in collusion with her special assistant.
Legit.ng previously reported that after several weeks of silence, President Muhammadu Buhari finally approved the retirement of Oyo-Ita as head of the civil service of the federation The president also confirmed Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan as her replacement.
According to the president, the appointment of Yemi-Esan as the substantive HOCSF takes effect from Friday, February, 26. This was disclosed by Olusegun Adekunle, permanent secretary (General Services Office) office of the secretary to the government of the federation.
In a related development, EFCC has arraigned Ope Saraki, cousin of former Senate president Bukola Saraki. Ope was dragged to court over discrepancies in two contracts he awarded when he was the special adviser on Millennium Development Goals in Kwara state.
