Ighalo urges fans to stay safe and alive during COVID-19 crisis

- Odion Ighalo has stressed that their health and overcoming the Coronavirus is more important

- Ighalo has been impressive since completing a six-month loan move from Shanghai Shenhua to Man United

Odion Ighalo has passed a message to all football fans that their health is much more important than anything else during this period of the Coronavirus pandemic, cited on Mirror.

The 30-year-old completed a January move to Man United and has won the heart of many fans around the world.

He has scored four goals in eight matches, keeping the Red Devils in three competitions including the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

Football across major parts of the world have been postponed due to the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Premier League matches have been moved further to April 30, 2020, as against the initial April 3, resumption date.

Ighalo is itchy to get back into action but stressed the importance of overcoming the global pandemic.

He said: "Of course I miss football, like other players and fans. But lives matter.

“Staying safe and alive is our biggest game in the world now — and we all have a role to play in it.

“Football has to take a back seat all over the planet at the moment and that is very understandable.

“Coronavirus is affecting all countries, across all continents. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this pandemic and to the families who have lost loved ones.

“But I know we will beat coronavirus and I urge people to remain positive.”

The former Nigerian international hopes the unity that comes from scoring in football can be used to beat coronavirus.

“We all celebrate together when a goal is scored in football," Ighalo continued. "We can all share in the optimism that we will soon celebrate the end of Covid-19.

“Very soon we will all be together to do the things that unite us in this beautiful game. This tough time will pass and light will shine upon us all again — to share in the love and happiness football brings.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Odion Ighalo signed a six-month current that would end by June 30, 2020, and Man United could be deprived of the striker if the 2019-20 season goes beyond that, cited on Manchester Evening News.

All football league across Europe and other parts of the world have postponed their matches due to the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

The Premier League have extended their resumption date to April 30, 2020, in order to conclude their remaining nine matches of the season.
