Coronavirus: Ex Arsenal duo of Johan Djourou and Alex Song sacked by FC Sion

- Coronavirus has become a disturbing threat to all humans on earth

- FC Sion have sacked nine players which include Djourou and Alex Song

- These players refused to to take pay cut which made the club to fire them

Swiss professional club FC Sion have terminated the contracts of nine of their players in which former Arsenal stars Johan Djourou and Alex Song were among those asked to leave.

FC Sion made this decision following the outbreak of deadly coronavirus which has thrown the whole world into serious confusion and tension.

The club feel they should reduce their expenditure since most Leagues in Europe are on break in which they think reducing the number of playing personnel is the panacea.

According to the report on Goal, president of FC Sion contacted all the players on the club's social media group telling them to take a technical unemployment deal.

But the report added that none of the players responded before the announcement was later made of the club sacking nine players.

Cameroonian football star Alex Song and Johan played at Arsenal under former manager Arsene Wenger before they left the Premier League side.

Djourou was superb at the back for Arsenal during his active playing days as he formed a formidable pairing with fellow countryman Philippe Senderos.

Alex Song on the other hand was a good defensive midfielder under Arsene Wenger and made his Champions League debut for Arsenal in their 1-0 win over Real Madrid.

He covered well for former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas in the midfield when they were playing together.

Meanwhile, Swiss Players' Union are said to have protested the dismissal of all these nine players.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Premier League side Arsenal confirmed that manager Mikel Arteta is now getting better after contracting the deadly coronavirus becoming the first EPL coach to be tested positive.

Football lovers were stunned when the news came last week that Mikel Arteta has coronavirus considering the threat the virus is posing on all humans in the world.

And after the ex Manchester City assistant coach was diagnosed, Mikel Arteta was quarantined and being monitored by Arsenal medical team.

Few days later, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was also confirmed as a carrier of coronavirus which made the Premier League body to suspend all League games.

As it stands, there is no actual date as per when the Premier League will resume although the body have proposed April as the resumption.
