Coronavirus: AGN considers postponing movie productions for 3 weeks

- The Actors Guild of Nigeria has revealed it is considering shutting down movie productions in some parts of the country

- Their decision comes following the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria

- AGN president Emeka Rollas revealed this in a press briefing on Friday, March 20

Following the growing confirmed cases of COVID-19 also known as coronavirus, in Nigeria, many organizations are taking precautionary steps to contain and control the spread of the virus.

Joining other organizations to put a halt to their activities, is the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). The president of the guild, Emeka Rollas, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, March 20

Rollas stated that although the movie productions were the exclusive preserves of executive producers, the guild was making efforts to liaise with them in order to cancel production for at least three weeks.

He further stated that AGN was already engaging producers in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the directive by the Lagos state government that people should not gather anywhere more than 50.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported on the mixed reactions that trailed Senator Elisha Abbo's appointment as patron of AGN by its president, Rollas.

Following the continuous demand for Abbo's removal, the northern chairman of the AGN has threatened to split from the association if the appointment of the senator as a patron is withdrawn.

Speaking with Daily Trust, the chairman of the Adamawa state chapter, Jimi Lot said Abbo was appointed because of his philanthropic nature in the north, adding that he is not guilty of the assault until proven so by the court.

In other news, recall that veteran Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo had taken to social to media to uphold her stand on the removal of Nigerian senator, Abbo, as a patron of the Actors Guild of Nigeria after he was appointed by Rollas.

COVID-19: CAN directs members to suspend church activities

Dokubo’s recent video came shortly after the AGN president responded to her first social media post in which she called for the immediate removal of the senator; noting that he can never represent her.

Kate Henshaw also called out AGN for making Abbo its patron. The talented actress re-posted Dokubo's video on her Instagram page and called out the AGN president, Emeka Rollas, for his decision to make Abbo a patron of the respected body.
