Anselem Alohka has spoken on how his sister died in the Abule Ado explosion in Lagos on Sunday, March 15, saying that a roof fell on Reverend Sister Henrietta Alohka after rescuing her students.
Anselem said in a BBC video that mass was ongoing in the morning when his sister and others started seeing smoke, which made Sister Henrietta alert everyone.
Legit.ng notes that the deceased's brother said: "She rescued the pupils by letting them out through the back of the school.
"She discovered that there were pupils left in the school and went back. The roof fell on her after she had succeeded in rescuing the remaining pupils.
"It was with rude shock that the news came to us and we felt devastated, the entire family. Initially, I didn't know how to break it to other members of the family because nobody expected that Sister Henrietta would leave this earth at this very moment."
Describing his sister, Anselem said the deceased was a very simple and easy-going person who was friendly to every member of the family.
He said the deceased was accessible by members of the family who could approach her for assistance.
Legit.ng previously reported that tragedy struck on Sunday morning, March 15, after a pipeline exploded in the Abule Ado community of Lagos, killing several people and injuring many others.
The explosion affected Bethlehem Girls College and claimed the life of the school principal, Reverend Sister Henrietta Alokha.
Videos that captured the students of the boarding school being evacuated from the scene of the explosion went viral.
Eyewitnesses stated that Alokha was inside the building saving the students who were trapped in the building.
The roof of the collapsing building was said to have fallen on the principal after she succeeded in rescuing all the students of the school.
