Adams Oshiomhole has (temporarily) survived the grand plot to get him removed as the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was as a result of the indefinite suspension of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting where his removal was allegedly planned to take place.
The NEC meeting was suspended after President Muhammadu Buhari's intervention.
The victory was sealed for Oshiomhole after the Court of Appeal ruled that Oshiomhole remains the party's chairman'
The appeal court stayed the lower court's ruling which restrained Oshiomhole from functioning as the party's chairman.

The unfolding development has some key takeaways and consequences which are briefly highlighted and discussed below:
1. The plot to remove Oshiomhole has temporarily failed
Though he cannot sleep with all eyes closed yet, the plot to remove Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the APC has failed temporarily. How he is able to win enough support will determine his future as the chairman of the party.
2. Godwin Obaseki loses
The governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, celebrated when his predecessor, was suspended as the APC chairman.
He even went ahead to call a meeting of South-South APC leaders where he allegedly planned to endorse Victor Gaidom, APC's acting national secretary, as a replacement for Oshiomhole. That plot has failed, at least for now.
3. Giadom loses seat as acting national chairman or secretary
During the brief suspension of Oshiomhole, Giadom had reportedly paraded himself as the acting national chairman, saying he was the most senior party official in the absence of the embattled APC chairman.
With Oshiomhole's victory, Giadom has lost the chance to parade himself as the acting national chairman. Also, he can no longer function as the acting national secretary as the party's National Working Committee has appointed Waziri Bulama as the national secretary.
4. President Buhari acts as the party leader
Whether the APC will survive beyond 2023 or nor will be largely dependent on how President Buhari is able to manage the diverse interests of the members. If he had not intervened in the crisis on Monday, the party would most likely implode after the aborted NEC meeting where Oshiomhole's removal would have been executed.
5. Tinubu still an influential force
The national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, still remains an influential force in the party. His recent statement where he declared support for Oshiomhole significantly shaped the development the led to the postponement of the NEC meeting.
6. Setbacks for the governors who want Oshiomhole out
Some APC governors scheming ahead of 2023 are allegedly behind the plot to remove Oshiomhole. However, with the appeal court's ruling and suspension of the controversial NEC meeting, the anti-Oshiomhole group are currently on the losing side.
7. Plotting continues
The ruling APC is certainly not done with its drama. Though Oshiomhole and his supporters have recorded a temporary victory, there are hurdles to face. Those who want him out will not relent unless he finds a way to reach a compromise with them.
