APC crisis: Buhari postponed NEC meeting to avoid implosion

- There are opinions from some APC members as to why the NEC meeting was postponed

- The views are being expressed by supporters of Adams Oshiomhole

- The members said that the meeting was postponed to prevent more crisis in the party

Some supporters of Adams Oshiomhole, the reinstated national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed why the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting was suspended.

According to Daily Trust, pro-Oshiomhole members of the APC believe that the NEC meeting was postponed by President Muhammadu Buhari and some governors on the platform of the party to avoid possible implosion and disintegration.

This set of APC supporters said that the NEC meeting if it had been held on Tuesday, March 17, as earlier scheduled, would have been an avenue for Oshiomhole's detractors to finalise plans to oust him.

APC crisis: Those calling for Oshiomhole’s removal will fail - Governor Uzodinma declares

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that there was a ray of hope for Oshiomhole even in the midst of his present travails.

This was as Oshiomhole was getting the support of some APC governors (about 11 of them) and Tinubu, Daily Trust reports.

The timely backing for Oshiomhole came on Sunday, March 15, ahead of the APC's NEC meeting which has now been suspended indefinitely.

Added to this, Chief Bisi Akande, the chairman of the APC’s reconciliation committee, has urged all rival factions of the party to sheath their swords and withdraw court cases to allow peace reign.

In another post, Legit.ng reported that the Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma, had reacted to the removal of Oshiomhole.

While speaking to journalists on Friday, March 13, in Owerri, the state capital, Uzodinma said those calling for Oshiomhole’s removal will fail.

Legit.ng gathered that he said patriotic forces within the ruling party would not allow Oshiomhole to be humiliated out of office.

He also accused some members of the party of working with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to create a crisis.

“Many of us, leaders of the party, are aware that those clamouring for the chairman’s removal are working with the PDP to destabilise the party but they will fail.

“We will not allow them to humiliate our national chairman out of office through illegal means or allow any action that will bring the party to public ridicule,” Uzodinma said.
