Nigerian football star Odion Ighalo has explained that he never thought the dream of him playing for Manchester United will come true considering the age the Red Devils signed him.
Manchester United completed the signing of Odion Ighalo on the last day of the January transfer window thereby replacing Englishman Marcus Rashford who got injured.
Now Odion Ighalo has settled down well at Old Trafford playing eight games so far for Manchester United scoring four goals and also provided an assist.
According to the report on Daily Mail, Odion Ighalo expressed happiness that his dream of playing for Manchester United as a young man finally come true.
''My support for the team was great. I tried to see every game of United every weekend if possible. I still remember those memories.
''I never imagined it was going to turn out this way. Even when I played in the Premier League for Watford, I never thought this was going to happen,'' Ighalo explained according to Daily Mail.
Ighalo grew up on three streets of Ajegunle in Lagos where he used to wear Manchester United jersey while playing football with his friends.
There are reports that Manchester United chiefs are satisfied with his games so far and they will give him another contract when the season comes to an end.
That means Odion Ighalo will still have the chance to wear the Red Devils jersey when his current six-month deal ends in June.
Manchester United are currently occupying fifth position on the Premier League table with 45 points after 29 games before the season was suspended because of coronavirus.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United legend Andy Cole called Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo to congratulate him on his arrival at Old Trafford and also wished him good luck this season in all competitions.
The former Super Eagles star was about to attend to an interview with Manchester United media team before his phone rang and had to pause to receive the call from Andy Cole.
Andy Cole introduced himself to Odion Ighalo as former Manchester United striker before asking the Nigerian how he will feel when he scores his first goal for the Red Devils.
Cole also asked Odion Ighalo if he followed his career very well while he was playing for Manchester United asking him to name the goal he feels was his best during his playing time.
