Coronavirus: Australian scientists reportedly developed vaccine for disease

Three Australian scientists have said they have already developed a vaccine for coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, which was recently declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The scientists from the University of Queensland, in Brisbane, however, stated that it could take months before it is ready to be rolled out, Daily Mail reports.

The scientists were reported to have told The Australian that they believe they have created a vaccine that could immunize against COVID-19.

He said his team had experimented with 250 different formulations before settling on a candidate vaccine virus named S-Spike.

Chappell explained that developing the injection properly would take a long time.

Getting a vaccine that’s available for seven billion people on the planet means … we have to move to scale and that’s a very different proposition.” he said.

Meanwhile, the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, does not have the deadly coronavirus disease called COVID-19.

This much was confirmed by the White House through its physician, Dr Sean Conley.

According to Fox News, Conley announced Trump tested negative to the viral disease which has killed thousands across the globe and infected tens of thousands more.

CNN also reported that the doctor said Trump agreed to take the test after a very thorough conversation on why he had to go through it.

The US president announced he was tested during a press conference on Saturday, March 14.

Trump said he was tested for the virus on Friday, March 13, adding that the result will take one or two days before it came out.

To another news, the government of Enugu state in Nigeria has announced a suspected case of the deadly pandemic disease coronavirus in the southeastern state.

Channels TV reports that the announcement was issued in a statement by Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi, the permanent secretary in the coal city's ministry of health.

According to Agujiobi, the state has already informed the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been informed. The state also sent a sample collected from the suspected case for investigations while she is also being monitored during the wait.

This was disclosed in a short video clip shared on Twitter by China Xinhua News. The company credited with developing the test strip is reported to be based in Hefei, China.

Though the test strip has not been publicly acknowledged by medical experts, the knowledge of the existence of such test strip is a welcome development as the world continues to grapple with the rampaging virus.
