APC currently being swallowed by politics of bitterness - Bisi Akande

- Bisi Akande, an ally of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is issuing a warning to members

- Akande says members who rush to court for issue the party can resolve are putting the organisation in danger

- The former governor says his committee is mandated to investigate the crisis in Edo state and parties to it must honour the outcome

Bisi Akande, the head of a committee set up to reconcile warring factions of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has warned that the party is facing grievous danger.

Akande, a former governor of Osun and ally of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party's national leader, warned that the current increasing level of court cases by members is threatening to swallow the organisation.

Akande said it was lamentable that rather than pass through the official party mechanisms of conflict resolution, many members have resorted to going to the courts.

The former governor warned that this is detrimental to the existence of the APC in Nigeria.

In a statement personally signed by him, Akande said ignoring respect for the part spells doom, portends danger.

He said he could not understand the motivation behind rushing to court saying, however, that many of those who seek judicial actions to their cases do this innocently and in error.

He said the way judicial cases are handled with a clear winner and a loser does not do any good to the party which would rather prefer dialogue, a give-and-take procedure of handling conflicts.

He reminded members that the party law states that every avenue for resolving conflicts must be exhausted and that it is binding on every stakeholder in the party to obey this.

He noted that he remains the chairman of the committee with a mandate to investigate and submit recommendations in relation to the crisis between Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state and the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

He said as a result, it is premature for members to seek to rush to court when various angles to the resolution of the crisis had not been explored.

He urged every member of the party to ensure that they honour the outcome of the commitee's investigation and report.

He also pleaded with them to stop running to the courts to settle scores.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Akande recently made a revelation about the crisis rocking the APC chapter in Edo state.

He expressed optimism that the party would come out strong from the friction between Obaseki and Oshiomhole.
