Odion Ighalo set for stay in Man United as Solskjaer analyses his qualities

- Odion Ighalo is looking likely for a permanent stay at Old Trafford after showing the stuff he is made of in Man United's game against Man City and LASK

- The Nigerian forward's incredible performance has caught the eye of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and shut down his critics

- Impressed by his stand-out performance, Solskjaer described Ighalo as 'a goalscorer and a striker' while also analysing his other skills

Odion Ighalo has been in an incredible form that has put his critics on silence with the 30-year-old forward-looking destined for another deal next season after Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a hint.

The Nigerian forward joined the Red Devils on the deadline day of the January transfer and has moved on to cement himself as one of the instrumental figures of the club this season.

With just 8 appearances, Ighalo is proving more than a replacement for injured Marcus Rashford as he has bagged four goals in three games that he began as a starter.

Ighalo has now scored goals more than Henrik Larsson and as many as Radamel Falcao who also played for United, and he is currently dubbed 'a loan legend' in England.

His performance against Manchester City when he held off Fernandinho before moving past Mendy and his goal against LASK was so incredible that Man United boss Solskjaer quickly named three qualities that have made him a standout star within a short time.

"Odion has done really well since he came in and he’s enjoying himself. And he will improve and get better but he has qualities we saw in him and we needed and we will still need," the Norwegian said

“He’s a goalscorer and a striker, he doesn't worry too much about all that nonsense; build-up play - that’s a joke, obviously. He knows his job and what his role in the team is, and he’s very good with his back to goal, great link player, but maybe the best thing about him is his personality, so he’s got the whole lot really."

Bruno Fernandes picked up the Nigerian in the 28th minute with a sublime outside-right flick before Ighalo expertly controlled the ball, beat his marker with two raises and then unleashed a ferocious shot into the net.
