Malam Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, has reportedly arrived Awe residence of the deposed Sarki Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in Nasarawa state.
The governor's media office earlier posted the photo of El-Rufai's car journey on its verified Twitter page on Friday morning, March 13, at exactly 9:08 am.
Governor El-Rufai has now arrived Awe community on a sympathy visit to the former emir who was banished by Kano state government.
The governor, according to The Cable, arrived around 12:47 pm in a six-car convoy without the normal tradition of siren.
The publication added that Sanusi will be allowed to speak and pray with his visitors.
Legit.ng recalls that Sanusi, who is a close friend of Malam El-Rufai, was controversially removed as the Emir of Kano state by Governor Umar Ganduje-led government over alleged disrespect and insubordination
The former CBN governor was deposed on Monday, March 9, with the statement announcing the development read by Alhaji Usman Alhaji, SSG to Kano government.
The state government later announced Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the son of Sanusi's predecessor, as the new emir for the ancient town.
Sanusi in a video admitted that he has accepted his dethronement while describing it as an act of destiny as he called for support for the new emir.
The dethroned monarch was later announced as the chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU) by the state government.
Sanusi is taking over from Tagwai Sambo, the Chief of Moro’a, the pioneer chancellor, who was appointed back in 2005.
Before that, Kaduna government on Tuesday, March 10, honoured the former monarch with a new appointment. He was appointed into the board of the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA).
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja reportedly ordered the immediate release of the dethroned Emir of Kano from the Nasarawa confinement where he was banished to by the Kano state government.
Justice Anwuli Chikere made the order in an ex-parte ruling on Friday morning, March 13, after listening to Sanusi's lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
