- Dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi has added another feather on his cap
- Sanusi was on Wednesday, March 11, given a UN appointment
- The former traditional ruler has been made an advocate of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- This came from the UN's Secretary-General, António Guterres
It seems that the dethronement of Muhammad Sanusi by the Kano state government was a blessing in disguise for the former Emir.
After he was deposed and allegedly banished by the state government, Sanusi has continued to get key appointments both locally and internationally.
Just two days after he was forced to forfeit his traditional position, Sanusi was made one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) advocates by the United Nations (UN).
The appointment was made by the UN's secretary-general, António Guterres, and made public in Nigeria on Wednesday, March 11, by its resident coordinator, Fred Eno.
Sanusi, alongside 16 other appointees, is to increase awareness and inspire growth in the SDGs sector.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Sanusi might have lost his title after being deposed and exiled by the state government, but he was still receiving support and recognition.
The Kaduna state government on Wednesday, March 11, honoured the former traditional ruler with another appointment. The dethroned monarch was announced as the chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU) by the Kaduna state government.
The information was made known in a statement from the Kaduna government house signed by Muyiwa Adekeye, the governor's special adviser on media and communication.
Sanusi is taking over from Tagwai Sambo, the Chief of Moro’a, the pioneer chancellor, who was appointed back in 2005.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng gathered that Sanusi received one of his wives in Awe town in Nasarawa state where he was banished to on Wednesday, March 11.
The wife of the dethroned emir arrived Awe at about 11.15 am along with three of the deposed emir’s children.
Legit.ng gathers that family were conveyed to Awe in vehicles with Kaduna state government number plates.
The Emir of Awe, Alhaji Umar Isa Abubakar, the chairman of Awe local government area and dignitaries in the town were also said to have met with Sanusi.
