Sources said notable Nigerians urged the Governor Abdullahi Sule to change the location for Sanusi.
Following the intervention by the prominent persons, the governor was said to have agreed that the deposed emir be exiled in Loko which looks better than the initial place that the former emir was to be taken to.
Meanwhile, the special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on digital/new media, Tolu Ogunlesi, on Tuesday, March 10, reacted to the dethronement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
The presidential aide in a tweet shared on his page @toluogunlesi noted that sitting governors could dethrone anybody as that is the way the system is made up and the state leaders have the power to do so.
He stated this in response to a Twitter user @Msmenalicious, who had asked what could happen in any other state after the Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje dethroned an emir in the state.
Ogunlesi went on to cite an example of when Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike addressed traditional rulers in his state like a kindergarten class. He explained that is the power a state governor has over traditional institutions that didn't start today.
Though Ogunlesi noted that governors have the power to dethrone a monarch, another Twitter user @YNsikanabasi asked if banishing a traditional is constitutional. He responded saying that banishment is a different matter.
