Group to Emir Sanusi: Face your corruption charges and stop playing the ostrich

It will be recalled that the Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission had issued an invitation for the Emir to appear before it on Monday, March 9 for interrogations.

Emir Sanusi, however, approached a Kano High court to get an interim injunction restraining the Kano commission from investigating him.

The groups are of the opinion that the president should have called the governor to order, stressing that if crisis erupts in the state, Buhari should be held responsible.

Abubakar said: “The dethronement of Emir Muhammad Sanusi today by Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, would have far-reaching socio-economic and security consequences on the state and the north.

“The lingering crisis between the governor and the Emir that culminated into Emir, Muhammad Sanusi dethronement could have been resolved long ago if northern Nigeria has committed leadership that live above board and carry the interests of the region far and above any other considerations.

“As youth leaders, our group will hold President Muhammad Buhari responsible in the event of any breakdown of law and order as a result of the reckless action of Ganduje.”

The group said the president's body language emboldened Governor Ganduje to move against the emir.

Meanwhile, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has berated the Kano state government over the dethronement of Emir Sanusi II.

On his official Twitter page, Sani said that the sack of Sanusi is a clear case of the intoxication of power on the part of the state government.

The former senator said that the decision of the state is a complete diversion from established norms and goes to show "the incompatibility of the crown and the conscience."
