Momo Bertrand: Man finally gets hired by United Nations after 500 rejections

A man identified as Momo Bertrand said he has finally been hired by the United Nations (UN) after being rejected 500 times.

Bertrand took to LinkedIn to make the disclosure, saying he started applying for jobs at the UN after completing his master's degree programme.

Legit.ng gathers that Bertrand said he told his classmate about applying for UN jobs, but he was laughed at and advised to apply to be a kindergarten teacher.

Bertrand, who was born in Douala, Cameroon, said he did not listen to his classmate that made discouraging comments after telling them of his desire to work with the UN.

He said: "I told a classmate and he laughed at me, “Momo, the #UN won’t hire you b’cuz you know no one there. Instead, apply to be a kindergarten teacher here in San Diego.”

"I didn’t listen. After 500 failed #job applications, I was hired as a Digital Media Officer at ITCILO.org, a #UnitedNations agency."

In other news, former member of the Lagos state House of Assembly Honourable Segun Olulade has said he was mocked by friends and coursemates for packing wastes on the streets of Lagos.

The former lawmaker made the disclosure in an interview he granted Nigerian Tribune, in which he said he did not set out to pack wastes because of poverty, but because he wanted his dignity intact.

Olulade said he decided to provide a solution to waste management in Lagos because it was a menace in the state at the time.

He said: "Waste management then was a great menace in Lagos then, so I decided to provide solution to it by picking waste from one street to another for free.

"However, many people were amazed that a young man could engage in such act, so they expressed gratitude by parting with some money."
