- APC south-south chapter says it is behind embattled Adams Oshiomhole
- The chapter consequently called those against the APC chairman mischief-makers
- Consequently, a vote of confidence was passed on Oshiomhole
The south-south chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence on Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The zonal leadership consequently blamed the crisis rocking the party on those nursing political ambitions in 2023.
It said some sponsored mischief-makers are planning to destabilize the party for their selfish political motives.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Ovie Omo Agege, deputy Senate president.
“Consequently, the leadership of the Southsouth geo-political zone hereby passes a vote of implicit confidence on the national leadership of our great party, ably led by the national chairman, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, and the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Force, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, the overall leader of our great party,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that there are indications the recent crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a power-play between the party's governors and their national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the report, Tinubu installed Oshiomhole, while the party's national chairman have been shielding the former Lagos state governor from the party’s governors, many of who have 2023 ambition.
Those in the know say the latest crisis is part of the bid to grab the soul of the APC for the 2023 presidential fight.
Also recall that Legit.ng reported that some operatives of the Nigeria police on Wednesday, March 4, took over the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja.
This is following a court order suspending the embattled APC chairman pending the determination of a suit asking for his removal.
The police stormed the secretariat at about 5pm shortly after the legal department of the party was served the court order suspending Oshiomhole.
Legit.ng gathered that the police directed all the staff of the party to go back to their offices while visitors were advised to vacate the secretariat.
The security measures were allegedly put in place following reported hints that some hoodlums were planning to invade the secretariat.
