Buhari allegedly picks Bashir Jamoh to replace Peterside as NIMASA DG

- President Buhari has allegedly appointed Bashir Jamoh as the director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency

- Jamoh is reportedly expected to replace Dakuku Peterside whose tenure is expected to end on Tuesday, March 10

- However, the reported appointment of Jamoh is yet to be officially announced by the Ministry of Transportation

The appointment of Bashir Jamoh as the director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has allegedly been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to The Cable, Jamoh will replace the outgoing DG, Dakuku Peterside, who was appointed in 2016 and whose tenure is expected to end on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

Legit.ng gathers that Jamoh who is from Kaduna state is currently the executive director for admin and finance at NIMASA.

Jamoh had served with the Kaduna state government before joining the then National Maritime Authority (NMA) in 1994.

However, in its own version of the report, The Sun indicates that the Ministry of Transportation is yet to confirm the appointment.

The newspaper explained that the director of press at the ministry, Ojiekwe Eric, when contacted, said: "As as soon as the ministry confirmed it, we will issue a statement to that effect."

At the time of filing this report, Eric told The Sun that he was yet to be briefed on the development as the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amechi, had not confirmed the appointment.

Meanwhile, Folashade Yemi-Esan was on Wednesday, March 4, sworn-in as the new head of federal service by President Buhari.

The swearing-in ceremony for Esan who took over from Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita was conducted just before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The venue for the event was the executive council chamber of the State House, Abuja.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari had approved the retirement of Oyo-Ita as head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The president also confirmed Yemi-Esan as the head of service.

According to the president, her appointment as the substantive HOCSF took effect from Friday, February, 26.

This was disclosed by Olusegun Adekunle, permanent secretary (General Services Office), office of the secretary to the government of the federation.

Oyo-Ita retirement from the Federal Civil Service took effect from Thursday, February 27.

Buhari also thanked Oyo-Ita for the invaluable services to the nation and wished her well in all future endeavours.

Until her new appointment, she was the Acting HOCSF, a position she assumed since September 18, 2019.

In another news, President Buhari has emphasised that he would be fair to all Nigerians irrespective of their religions, tribes, political parties, among others.
