Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has recounted how he asked Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane if he should pull off his shoes before entering his car when they first met.

The 21-year-old star, who was only 13 years as at that time, rose to prominence after scoring 27 goals and 16 assists in 60 appearances across competitions.

He admitted that it was the surprise of his life when his father was contacted by Real Madrid's representative about a decade ago.

Mbappe was invited for trials by Los Blancoes when he was 13 - two years after he had the same experience at Premier League outfit Chelsea.

The World Cup-winning star has shared his experience meeting the current Real Madrid boss for the first time ever.

Mbappe told The Players' Tribune: "I will never forget the moment that we arrived at the training centre from the airport. Zidane met us in the parking lot by his car, and it was a really nice car, of course.

"We said hello, and then he offered to drive me over to the field for training. He was pointing at the front seat, like, "Go on, get in."

"But I just froze and I asked, "Should I take off my shoes?" Hahaha! I don't know why I said that. But it was Zizou's car!

"He thought that was really funny. He said, "Of course not, come on, get in." He drove me to the training pitch, and I was just thinking to myself, I am in Zizou's car.

"This is not real. I must still be sleeping on the airplane," he said.
