Reigning Champions League holders Liverpool on Tuesday night, February 18, suffered a 1-0 defeat against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the UCL round of 16 first leg encounter.
Jurgen Klopp's men traveled to Spain in high spirit having won their last Premier League game and they remain the only unbeaten side this season in the English topflight.
The visitors started the encounter with much zeal and determination with defender Virgil Van Dijk directing a long ball to Sadio Mane, but the Senegalese failed to beat goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
Atletico Madrid then took over with flurry of attacks against Liverpool before scoring their goal in the fourth minute through Saul Niguez.
Liverpool goalie Alisson tried all he could to deny Saul Niguez from scoring, but he was unable to do so.
And after taken the lead against Liverpool, Atletico Madrid stars provided some superb and astonishing style of football with the duo of Koke and Felipe combining well in the midfield.
The first half however ended with Atletico Madrid taken their 1-0 lead to the dressing room.
On resumption for the second half, Roberto Firmino had the chance to restore parity for Liverpool in the 49th minute after being set up by Fabinho, but he was unable to score.
The encounter eventually ended 1-0 in favor of Atletico Madrid as they will now take a 1-0 lead to Anfield to face Liverpool in the second leg.

Chukwueze's release clause in his current deal with the La Liga side is £53.5 million but they are likely to accept £34m.
