Boko Haram attacks Chibok again

- Boko Haram insurgents are attacking Chibok town again for the umpteenth time

- This time the terrorists have targeted Korongilum community in the local government

- The insurgents came into the community around 6pm, shooting sporadically and setting many houses on fire

The Cable is reporting that Korongilum community in Chibok local government area of Borno state, is currently being attacked by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

According to the report, the insurgents came into the community around 6pm, shooting sporadically and setting many houses on fire.

A resident of the community who was quoted in the report said locals were just returning from their farms when the attack happened.

A military source, however, said troops from the Nigerian Army’s 28 task force brigade and 117 battalions, both headquartered in Chibok, are already on their way to the area.

“In fact, the brigade and the battalion commanders are the ones leading soldiers to the attack,” the military source said.

About a month ago, the insurgents attacked Payasatan Bilaburdar village in Chibok and killed two siblings.

16-year-old Joel Fali and 14-year-old Kwakwi Fali lost their lives in the attack while a 35-year-old farmer identified as Yusuf Yakubu also lost his life in the attack.

In early January, the village of Bila-Amboldar in Chibok was thrown into mourning as the insurgents launched an attack that claimed three lives.

The terrorists also looted dozens of bicycles and set houses on fire and carted away more than 20 motorcycles and other valuables during the attack.

In December 2019, Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, confirmed that at least six persons were killed and two women kidnapped by Boko Haram during their attack on Kwaragilim village in Chibok.

Governor Zulum made the revelation during a stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
