Frank Lampard claims VAR decisions made Chelsea lose against Manchester United

- Frank Lampard thoroughly criticized key decisions throughout the match

- His Chelsea side were beaten for the third time this season by Manchester United

- Chelsea were however denied two goals by the Video Assisted Referee

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is adamant his side were robbed of a potential victory after his side succumbed to yet another defeat against bitter rivals Manchester United.

As reported, United blew the top four race wide open with a 2-0 win over the Blues courtesy of goals from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire.

Chelsea, who played fairly well, felt aggrieved on several grounds during the game as players decried several key decisions during the game.

For one, the home side felt Harry Maguire should have been sent off for what looked like a follow up challenge on striker Michy Batshuayi right at the touchline.

The challenge was similar to one made by Son Heun Min on Antonio Rudiger during Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham which got the Korea sent off and suspended for several matches.

Speaking on the incident, Lampard simply said it was a crucial decision which could have possibly altered the course of the match.

“They are crucial. Maguire should get a red and then he scores the second goal. That's what VAR was brought in for, to check different angles,” he said in the post-match interview.

Chelsea also had two goals ruled out by the Video Assisted Referee (VAR) on various grounds.

First was a goal by Kurt Zouma which was disallowed for an alleged push by Azpilicueta on Brandon Williams.

A closer look at the replay revealed there was also contact between Azpilicueta and United midfielder Fred in the buildup to fouling Williams – something Chelsea’s fullback pointed out at full time.

As it stands, Chelsea’s Champions League hopes hang in the balance as the race for the top four spreads to a dramatic six-team battle.
