Shehu Sani reacts to dismissed report claiming Amaechi escaped kidnappers attack

Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, has reacted to the report claiming the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, escaped suspected kidnappers attack on Sunday, February 16.

A report by Daily Nigerian had claimed that passengers on Abuja-Kaduna train, allegedly including Amaechi, were ambushed by some kidnappers.

The newspaper, however, stated that the attack was foiled by some security agents.

Legit.ng reports that the transport minister has, however, dismissed the report, describing it as fake news.

Nevertheless, in his own reaction to the development, Senator Sani said jokingly that the transport minister should not be blamed if truly the attack happened and he ran away to save his life as some reports claimed.

He tweeted in Pidgin: "True or not, make you no blame the Minister if he pick race like Usain Bolt, those bandits no know FEC.

"Eh hen,if na you you no go run because you be minister?"

Amaechi also responded to another claim by the social activist, Aisha Yesufu, who insisted that the transport minister was truly at the scene of the alleged attack.

"Madam, I was not attacked, I did not see or escaped attackers, bandits or kidnappers. I did not “fled like a...” Insults & abuses will not change the fact that I was not attacked or escaped attack, in Kaduna last night. BTW, we can still be respectful & courteous here," he told Yesufu.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Amaechi described himself as someone who has great fear for God in all his dealings.

Amaechi made this remark in his speech at the 8th matriculation ceremony of Gregory University Uturu, Abia state, which was aired live on NTA on Saturday, February 15.

The minister said that while he was in politics, he never went for any election without hearing first from God.

He said: "I don't go for any election without going on my knees to ask God, 'What is your position'. I am always afraid to know that I'm without God."
