Political elites in Nigeria has been blamed for the proposed protest against service chiefs. The allegations were raised by the presidency.
According to the presidency, the protest is an effort is to embarrass President Muhammadu Buhari.
The presidency consequently cautioned the political elites against misleading the public oand inciting them against the heads of military institutions.
Going further, the president said it received report that about two thousand men and women have been hired to protest against the service chiefs.
The presidency disclosed this in a statement signed by the senior special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that presidential spokesman Garba Shehu on Sunday, February 16, said that Nigerian service chiefs cannot be sacked because they are still useful in the fight against insurgency and insecurity.
Garba stated that by virtue of the alarming level of violent crimes, Nigeria is in a war situation, and as such, the removal of the service chiefs cannot solve the problem, The Cable reports.
He said: “Removal or sack of service chiefs does not stop all of what we are experiencing. Whether we like it or not, we are in a war situation.
"The president and the commander-in-chief are seeing things that others cannot see. This is why he deserves the benefit of the doubt."
