Ex-corps member threatens NYSC with legal action, demands N260m

- A former corps member is threatening to take legal action against National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

- The ex-corps member, Boboye Olaribigbe, who is now an accountant is demanding the scheme pay him N260 million

- Olaribigbe accused NYSC of not wanting to pay him after executing a project back in 2006

Boboye Olaribigbe, a former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has, demanded that the scheme give him N260 million as the copyright value of a language project he executed more than 10 years ago.

A report by PM News indicates that the ex-corps member who is now an accountant accused the NYSC of refusing to pay him and threatened to take legal action against the scheme if his demands are not met.

Olaribigbe went on to explain that back in 2006, he was granted approval to convert the NYSC Language Handbook into an audio format.

He said the project which he completed after his service year was aimed at solving language problems encountered by corps members in the country.

The ex-corps member also said different language experts who participated in the project were sourced and the audio was produced in compact disks and cassettes.

The 43-year-old further claimed to have got a letter of approval for the project from Brig. Gen. Yusuf Bomoi, a former director-general of the NYSC.

Sunday Oyinke, the deputy director of Community Development Service, NYSC, in reaction to the allegations urged Olaribigbe to be patient.

Legit.ng previously reported that Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, February 6, said some persons who reside in Victoria Island in Lagos have never visited Ikeja area of the state.

Buhari made the statement at the presidential villa when highlighting the importance of the NYSC program.

The president told some corps members, who had come to thank him for increasing their monthly allowance from N19,800 to N33,000 that the program had enabled Nigerians to travel to places they ordinarily would not have visited.

In a related development, a serving corps member has been brought into the limelight following an act of honesty that he carried out.

The young man caught the attention of members of the internet community, after a social media user identified as @ill_yha on Twitter, posted his photo and shared a story about what the young man did.

According to @ill_yha, the Kaduna state corps member returned an extra N33k allowance that was paid into his account for his monthly upkeep. Instead of pocketing the entire N66k, the young man called the attention of NYSC officials to the anomaly and refunded the extra amount.
