Odion Ighalo: Solskjaer says Nigerian will get permanent deal if he impresses

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo stands the chance of getting another contract deal if he impress this term at Old Trafford.

Odion Ighalo joined the Red Devils on the transfer deadline day from Chinese Super League giants Shanghai Shenhua and had been training on his own since he to England.

The outbreak of the deadly coronavirus disease forced Manchester United to ask Odion Ighalo to be training on his own as a precaution and was also not allowed to travel to Spain for training.

He was however allowed to join his new teammates in training when they returned from Marbella and Ighalo is now in good position to face Chelsea.

Chelsea will host Manchester United on Monday night at Stamford Bridge and Odion Ighalo is expected to make his debut for the Red Devils in what will be a tough encounter.

And ahead of the encounter, Manchester United handler Ole Solskjaer explained that Odion Ighalo will surely get another contract if he plays well in his first six months loan deal.

“It’s a loan, but when you’re in the door, and if you impress, it gives you a chance. That’s exactly the same for everyone who signs,''. Solskjaer explained on Odion Ighalo's stay at Man United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also explained that Odion Ighalo was not signed out of desperation, but to help Manchester United this season in all competition.

Ighalo was bought as a replacement for Marcus Rashford who is currently nursing an injury and will be out for the next three months.

The Nigerian is not a visitor in the Premier League having played for Watford for almost two seasons before he moved to China.

Already this term, Odion Ighalo has played 17 games in China scoring 10 goals before the League in that country was stopped due to the coronavirus.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United handler Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear that he believes Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo can provide immediate impact at Old Trafford this season.

Ighalo has been training on his own since he moved to the Red Devils from the Chinese Super League where he scored 10 goals in 17 games before leaving.

He has also been prevented from training at the club's ground as a precaution for the deadly coronavirus that emanated from China where Odion Ighalo came from.
