Legendary Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is one of the oldest players to remain active in his forties in the top five European Leagues.
The Italy international clocked 42 last month but his performances do not reflect in the age having helped the Old Lady secure a 1-1 draw in their Coppa Italia semifinal first-leg clash.
Buffon who won the FIFA World Cup with the Azzurri in 2006 has made ten appearances for Juve across competitions this campaign, keeping three clean sheets and conceding nine goals.
He had a short stint in France after spending just one season at Paris Saint Germaine but his reign there failed to help them progress on the European stage.
Having pulled incredible saves for the Serie A champions against AC Milan on Thursday night, Buffon found his way to meet with the grandson of Milan's legend Daniel Maldini.after the match.
Another legend who advanced in the age before finally calling it quit in 2009 - ending his 25-year career at his boyhood club.
Daniel made his debut in the game after being introduced in their 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona earlier in the month.
Buffon according to Give Me Sport is building a collection of jerseys of fathers and son having already collected that of George Weah and son.
The 42-year-old attacking midfielder also has tops from Enrico Chiesa and son, including Lillian Thuram and son in his jersey-museum.
“In my collection, I have [Enrico] Chiesa and son, [Lillian] Thuram and son, [George] Weah and son, and now Maldini and son. I’m waiting for their grandchildren!”
It is, however, left to be seen if the legendary goalkeeper has not picked up the jerseys from Cristiano Ronaldo and his son.
With the rate at which Buffon is going, he might not retire at the end of the ongoing season.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Juventus goalie Gianluigi Buffon has saluted Cristiano Ronaldo after scoring the penalty that gave Old Lady a draw against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg encounter.
AC Milan fans were hoping for a victory in this encounter before Cristiano Ronaldo's goal broke their hearts as Juventus now have the chance to progress to the final.
After returning for his second spell at Juventus last summer, Gianluigi Buffon has explained that one of the reasons he returned to the Old Lady is the chance to play with Ronaldo.
