Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has asked the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole to resign from his position.
The Rivers state governor said Oshiomhole should resign for failing to stop the inauguration of Bayelsa state governor as he allegedly boasted, Daily Trus reports.
Wike in a statement issued through his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, on Saturday, February 15, said the APC chairman is someone people should not associate with.
He accused Oshiomhole of trying to use his influence in the ruling party to steal the mandate of the people of Bayelsa state.
Meanwhile, the PDP has asked Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to arrest the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, for allegedly inciting violence over the Supreme Court judgment which nullified the election of David Lyon in favour of Douye Diri.
The PDP made the demand following statements credited to Oshiomhole where he said nobody should be sworn in as governor and later faulted INEC for issuing a certificate of return to Diri.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the spokesperson for the PDP, blamed the utterances of Oshiomhole for the violent protests that erupted over the recent political development in the state.
The PDP spokesperson accused Oshiomhole of inciting a call that no governor would be sworn-in in Bayelsa state, contrary to the judgment of the Supreme Court.
The party urged the inspector general of police, Mohammed, to immediately bring in the APC national chairman for questioning and prosecution for incitement. The PDP also asked Nigerians and the security agencies to hold Oshiomhole responsible for the violence in Bayelsa state and deal with him accordingly in line with the provisions of our laws.
In another report, the shocking defeat suffered by David Lyon at the Supreme Court just hours before his swearing-in as governor of Bayelsa state has been linked to alleged roles played by Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Timipre Sylva, minister of petroleum.
A chieftain of the party in the state, Perekeme Kpodoh, named the two important figures in the ruling political organisation as responsible for the sudden plight that befell its.
Kpodoh, who has played active roles in the sustenance of the APC in Bayelsa state, said the party should hold the two high profile members responsible and possibly sanction them for the way they handled the selection of those who stood for the election.
The chieftain said with the latest development, Lyon had been thrown into huge debts, which he would be made to pay alone.
