Rui Pinto has been named as the man who exposed Premier League champions Manchester City for them to get two-year Champions League ban.

Manchester City's Champions League ban for two years came as a shock for Pep Guardiola and his players on Friday night, February 14, as they were found guilty of breaking the rules.

The secrets that helped UEFA to ban Manchester City for two years were made available on Football Leaks with Rui Pinto named as the architect behind the Citizens' misfortune.

But Rui Pinto who hacked Manchester City emails to get valuable documents is currently in jail over 90 different counts of crimes committed by him.

As at the time Rui Pinto was said to be sending confidential documents about Manchester City, he was living in Hungary before he was eventually tracked down by police.

He is said to be currently waiting for court judgment on his charges after being denied an appeal.

Pinto who has been in jail since March 2019 has been involved in many crimes before he was arrested.

But despite being an accused person, football lovers have come together in a show of solidarity to plead for Rui Pinto to be released from jail considering the latest development.

Football Leaks was created four years ago with the target of the people in charge exposing corruptions and scams in football all over the world.

Pinto worked for Football Leaks under the name of John before he was arrested and currently being prosecuted.

The Citizens are expected to appeal the latest ban slammed on them by the European football governing body.
