It is with utmost sincerity that I pen these words to laud your recent stride in the choice of candidates in the February 29th Enugu Council poll in the state. It goes without saying that your choice of youths in the entire exercise is one of the most urbane and credible thing to do in this age. Posterity will live to be in your awe as someone that has always led by example.
The almost concluded exercise has the insignia of excellence all over it, except in few places where our people, including myself protested against. Be that as it may, never had Enugu Youths been treated with such importance when it comes to participation in governance in their own state. It is on this ground that I wish to appreciate the triumvirate of state government, and our political party, PDP for the conduct of this near perfect exercise. We hope this will be the norm going forward as Enugu Youths have long lost hope in public representation. Having said that, I shall proceed to unearth the obvious signs that threatened and, still threaten the chances of our great Party, ahead of 2023.
Sir, I have been particularly unsettled since after coming in contact with the recent publication of the Starlight Newspapers of 17th February, 2020, with a bold headline on the front cover, "Exposed: Gang up against Gov. Ugwuanyi." In that publication, the newspaper authoritatively recorded that the trio of Sen. Ekweremadu, Sen. Chuka Utazi and Rep. Path Asadu have concluded arrangements on how to ditch my governor and ensure he is taught a bitter political lesson when he would either contest for Senate or present a successor to the party ahead of 2023.
The now viral publication, as detestful as it appears has become a talking point across the streets of Enugu and even within the political circle as a reality that has been uncovered by the newspaper publication. While it has become increasingly clear as enunciated going by the reports of the newspaper that Ekweremadu would be gunning for the top job in the state, with Sen Utazi as his deputy, Rep. Path Asadu would be contesting for Senate, a plot clearly known to have been hatched by the trio, so as to Mar your chances in virtually every other aspect of your aspiration in the state.
Now, the problem is, the great people of Enugu North Senatorial zone who are supposed to form a hedge around you in the case of imminent manifestation of this grand plot and high profile gang up against your political future, are mostly displeased over your delay in transforming the zone into a cosmopolitan city, where every Tom and Harry in the zone would find comfort. The people are grumbling that the roads across the zone need urgent attention while the environment itself is seriously begging for massive industrialisation which only the governor can catalyze.
However, the proposed decentralization of ESUTEC across the zones of Enugu by the state government under your watch is taking too long. It is my personal opinion that while the 2023, when you will seize to serve as our ogvernor is fast approaching, I would urge his Excellency to expedite actions and immediately commence erecting structures for the project as time is of the essence.
Your other proposal to cite a world class stadium in Nsukka, is yet again, a laudable move which if properly executed to meet the standard or even surpass the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Akwa Ibom state will open up the zone, especially during international football Fiestas such as Africa Cup of Nations and the world Cup qualifiers among nations. The benefits of committedly pursuing this project cannot be over emphasized. But I won't delve into discussing them today.
Meanwhile, I have chosen to write you this open letter because there is a general consensus among my family and the entire Enugu State populace that His Excellency is a good man. It is my Ernest desire goodness never leaves your home, just as i pray the almighty will continue to give you wisdom, with which to continue to steer the ship of our dear state in the right direction. I am sorry if my choice of open platform hurts, I can always assure you, there is no ill-feeling sir.
