Bandits: Our security agencies must reassess strategies, killings not acceptable - Sani blows hot

- Senator Uba Sani has lamented over the killing of 22 people in Kaduna by bandits

- Armed bandits had attacked two villages in the state, killed innocent people and destroyed their property

- The senator, however, said that he would liaise with the state government and NEMA to ensure the displaced persons get relief materials

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central at the Senate, Uba Sani, has condemned the attacks on the Bakali and Maro villages of Giwa and Kajuru local government areas of the state by some murderous bandits.

Legit.ng reports that Senator Sani lamented that the incidents which led to the death of some villagers occurred in his constituency.

It was reported that about 22 persons were killed and several persons injured in Bakali village while seven people lost their lives in Maro village, with yet to be ascertained a number of persons inflicted with various forms of injuries.

He said the three persons injured in the Maro village attack are presently in St. Gerard Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna while two of them have undergone surgery.

"Hundreds of locals have been displaced in the two villages. The bandits burnt their houses and foodstuffs. There is, therefore, a humanitarian crisis that needs to be addressed immediately. The displaced persons need foodstuffs, clothes, blankets, water, toiletries and other items that would help lessen the pain of their displacement," he said.

Senator Uba Sani said that the attacks were becoming more frequent, adding that urgent steps must be taken to take the fight to the bandits.

He, also, noted that the security agencies must reassess their strategies and come up with measures to checkmate the needless killings of innocent people.

The senator said: "These attacks are becoming more frequent and urgent steps must be taken to take the fight to the bandits. Our security agencies must reassess their strategies and come up with measures to checkmate these murderous."

He promised to liaise with the state government and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure that relief materials are sent to the displaced persons without any delay.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that bandits burnt 16 members of the same family to death in the Bakali village of Fatika district, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state.

It was reported that the family members were killed when the bandits invaded the community on Tuesday, February 11, around 4 pm and set fire on many bags of grains, vehicles, and motorcycles in the village.
