Ibrahim Magu says going late to work is corruption

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has told workers that going late to work is an act of corruption that must be stopped.
Magu made the statement on Friday, February 14, at an anti-corruption walk organised in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Daily Trust reports.
He said most civil servants who work at the federal secretariat in Abuja don’t show up early to work.
"At 10.30 am, less than 10% of workers in the federal secretariat were at work. That is corruption and has to be tackled," he said.
Corps members whose community development service (CDS) was anti-corruption alongside other Corps members took part in the anti-corruption campaign.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has reacted to a tweet from a Twitter user identified as @TheRealDayne which showed an alleged picture of a holding center belonging to the agency.
The Twitter user in a now-deleted tweet had shared a photo of an open dumping facility, surrounded by razor-wired walls, which is alleged to be EFCC’s holding cell at its Port Harcourt zonal office. Tony Orilade, acting head, media, and publicity released a statement in reaction to the trending tweet.
Orilade explained that @TheRealDayne’s tweet is fake and the imagination of the author. He described it as a calculated attempt to smear the commission’s reputation.
The acting media head went on to boast that EFCC’s holding center has a high degree of decency and not the mischievous image that was circulated. Orilade noted that the Port-Harcourt detention facility is equipped with a medical center and detainees are fed three square meals daily from the commission’s canteen.

In another report, Abians for Equity, a socio-cultural group in the state has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to show determination in probing the former governor.
Orji was alleged to have looted the state treasury to the tune of N150 billion when he was the governor of the state.
The group disclosed this in a statement signed by its president, Mazi Okezie Egwuatu.
