Breaking: Angry mob reportedly loot radio Bayelsa as INEC declares Diri new governor-elect

- Some angry mob have reportedly raided Bayelsa state radio

- The mob were said to be sympathetic to the sacked governor-elect in the state, David Lyon

- Lyon was sacked on Thursday, February 13, by the Supreme Court over alleged certificate forgery by his running mate

Suspected supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly raided the premises of Bayelsa state broadcasting corporation.

The protesters were said to have damaged and looted valuables to protest the declaration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Douyi Diri, as the governor-elect of the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Nigerian Tribune reports that the PDP secretariat and the house the governor-elect were not spared by the angry mob.

Legit.ng gathered that the staff of the cooperation that shares a boundary with the Ekeki police station division situated along Azikoro road were seriously beaten by the mob.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the national chairman of the APC hinted that the party may file for the review of the Supreme Court judgment which sacked its candidate, David Lyon, as the governor-elect of Bayelsa state.

It was reported that in his official reaction to the ruling of the apex court, Oshiomhole said the party had already consulted its lawyers on the possible action to take to ensure the Lyon's mandate is restored.

Also, members of the PDP governors' forum sent their congratulatory message to Senator Diri over the Supreme Court's ruling in Bayelsa.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP governors, the director-general of the forum, C.I.D. Maduabum, said that the verdict of the court proved that God is in charge of the affairs of men.

The governors prayed for God's wisdom on the new governor-elect to direct the affairs of the state for the next four years.

Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, congratulated PDP candidate Senator Douye Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on their victory at the Supreme Court on Thursday, February 13.

Mohammed's message was disclosed in a statement through Lawal Muazu Bauchi, his special assistant on new media.

The Bauchi governor is his message described Diri’s victory as a defining judgment and a triumph for the state of Bayelsa.
