Odion Ighalo is preparing to make his debut for Manchester United after joining the Red Devils on the last day of the January transfer window.
Ighalo's move to Manchester United came as a big one for the player himself and also all Nigerian football fans and pundits.
He is now the first Nigerian who will wear Manchester United jersey which is a big achievement for a player who started his football career on the streets of Ajegunle in Lagos.
When Odion Ighalo started his career playing on the streets in Lagos, the striker had a dream to play for Manchester United and he was always seen wearing the club's jersey.
He played in the Nigerian League with Prime FC of Osogbo in Osun state before moving to Europe where his career started to shine.
Odion Ighalo who has been training on his own since he got to Manchester United could make his debut for the Red Devils in their next game against Chelsea.
Odion Ighalo is not new in the English topflight having played for Watford for almost two seasons before he moved to the Chinese Super League.
Manchester United were forced to the transfer market after their main striker Marcus Rashford got injured in which there was pressure to get a replacement.
They however went for Odion Ighalo and signed him for six months with the option of him getting a permanent deal considering his performances at the end of the season.
Stats have now shown that Odion Ighalo will be a perfect replacement for Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford.
Since December 1 last year when the Chinese Super League was placed on hold, Odion Ighalo has not played a competitive match.
So far in the 2019/20 season, Odion Ighalo has played 17 games scoring 10 goals and provided no assist, while Marcus Rashford played 22 games with 14 goals and four assists before he got injured.
During those games, Ighalo was also involved in 10 goals while Marcus Rashford was involved in 18.
