- Buffon added that Ronaldo was one of the reasons that made him return to Juve
Juventus goalie Gianluigi Buffon has saluted Cristiano Ronaldo after scoring the penalty that gave Old Lady a draw against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg encounter.
AC Milan fans were hoping for a victory in this encounter before Cristiano Ronaldo's goal broke their hearts as Juventus now have the chance to progress to the final.
After returning for his second spell at Juventus last summer, Gianluigi Buffon has explained that one of the reasons he returned to the Old Lady is the chance to play with Ronaldo.
"Ronaldo? He is an incredible champion, playing with him is one of the reasons I came back,''. Buffon said to the club's website.
Before leaving Juventus for a move to Paris-Saint-Germain, Gianluigi Buffon won nine League titles with the Old Lady, but he has never won the Champions League.
He then decided to leave Italy for a move to France thinking he would be able to lift the Champions League title having lost in three finals in his career.
Buffon and Paris-Saint-Germain were sent out of the Champions League by Premier League side Manchester United which was the game that got Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the full time job at Old Trafford.
United however went on to lose against Spanish side Barcelona in which Lionel Messi was superb in the two legs.
Juventus on the other hand got to the quarterfinal of the Champions League last season before they were sent out by Dutch side Ajax in which they even lost at home.
So far this season, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 26 goals for Juventus in all competitions and he is still ready to net more.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ronaldo de Lima settled the debate on the all-time great after naming Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi as the number one best player he always enjoys watching.
The Brazilian icon had an enviable career and he is often considered one of the best players who brought class and blended physicality with technique in modern football.
When asked about five players he enjoyed watching, the Inter and Real Madrid legend shunned his namesake Cristiano Ronaldo when settling for Messi as the number one on the list.
