Charlotte Nebres is one of the black American youngsters breaking barriers in the US entertainment industry. She is New York City Ballet’s first black Marie, an allusion to the young heroine of a 1954 show.

The 11-year-old said that whenever she dances, she feels free, reinvigorated, and happy.

She is presently praised as the next Misty Copeland, a legend known for marvellous ballet skills. Before Copeland, there was Debra Austin who also was the best ballet dancer in 1982.

Charlotte became famous when she got the much-sought-after role in The Nutcracker, a classic that has been performed by New York City Ballet for more than five decades.

Getting the role is a great narrative changer when it comes to the inclusion of blacks in the world of classical dance.

The 11-year-old is a student of School of American Ballet, an institution founded by popular choreographer, George Balanchine in 1934.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Africa is filled with many geniuses in different walks of life. One of those kids is Lwandle, a 12-year-old ballet dancer from Eswantini (also known as Swaziland), who started out when she was nine.

In an interview with the media for World Ballet Day, the kid dancer said she likes ballet because it instils a sense of discipline and gives her confidence.

She said what motivated her to keep practicing ballet is because her teacher, Velile, is always posting her sessions on social media where she sees how she exudes her skills.

Lwandle said in their dancing class, they are always prepared for the morning routine with warm-up exercises.
